What Covid-19 measures are in force?

Mask wearing is compulsory for people aged 11 and over, in the welcome building and throughout the tour. Also, the number of visitors per tour is restricted.

The Grotte de Choranche has introduced a health protocol so that you can be hosted, and enjoy your tour, with complete peace of mind.

Are dogs accepted on site and in the Grotte de Thaïs?

Yes, dogs are tolerated on site and during the cavern tour, if they behave properly and are kept on a lead. Category 1 and 2 dog breeds must wear a muzzle. The guides reserve the right to refuse a dog whose behaviour is considered dangerous to the other visitors, or if there are too many dogs.

Can I take photos and videos while touring the Grotte de Thaïs?

Can I tour the Grotte de Thaïs with a pushchair?

No, the Grotte de Thaïs is not pushchair accessible.

But you can easily tour the cavern with a very young child, if you bring a baby carrier.

Be sure to dress them warmly: the temperature is a constant 13°C.

Are Chèques Vacances accepted at the Grotte de Thaïs?

Yes, Chèques Vacances (ANCV) are accepted at the Grotte de Thaïs (no change given, up to €30 per payment). 

Since 2021, we have accepted ANCV Connect e-vouchers, with which you can only pay online (up to €30 per payment).

What is the gradient in the Grotte de Thaïs? How far underground do we go?

You will walk about 600 metres, including about 100 steps. The stairways are fitted with handrails. The route is uneven in places, with sections that slope up and down slightly.

How long does the Grotte de Thaïs tour last?

The temperature in the cavern is 13°C all year round. We advise you to bring warm clothing and closed-toe shoes for the tour.

Is there parking? Is it free?

Yes, we have a free car park next to our welcome building. 

The car park is not in the shade.

Is the Grotte de Thaïs accessible to disabled adults?

The cavern itself is not wheelchair accessible.

Motorhomes are tolerated in the lakeside car park next to our building (Parking de la Plage).

How can I buy my tickets for the Grotte de Thaïs?

Tickets do not need to be purchased in advance, but we strongly advise you to do so.

You have two options:

- Buy on site: you choose the date and time of your tour, subject to availability.

- Buy online: you choose the date and time of your tour. You must buy your tickets at least 1 hour before your tour starts.
